Thanks for your inquiry regarding the USS SIERRA and the Association which has been formed to perpetuate
her memory. I assume you were, at one time, a member of her crew and that you are eligible to join us.

We have reunions each year. The first was held in May 1988 in Charleston, SC where SIERRA was home ported.
At that reunion we had 31 sailors present. It was decided to form an organization that would meet regularly.
In order to remain solvent in our efforts, we placed into effect a dues program. We elected a number of officers
who serve without compensation. We publish a newsletter in order that all who are still interested in SIERRA can
communicate with former shipmates. This is of considerable help to those who are not physically or financially able
to attend our reunions to have some pleasure in reuniting with former shipmates. Our data base of former crew
members now numbers in excess of 700.

The ship was retired on October 15, 1993 after service dating back to March 1944. The Association's membership,
at 200 strong, was in attendance at the decommissioning service as part of our sixth reunion.

The level of annual dues payment is nominal. Most members send us $20 or $25 each year, but any amount
will keep you on our mailing list.
PLEASE JOIN US.
Please complete the application below in order to supply us with all the pertinent details about you.
