Looking for Father's Shipmates |

Dear Sierra Shipmates,
I am trying to find information on my
father. Thomas Elbert Kanakis though he may
have gone by Tommy. He was transferred to the USS Sierra
December 8, 1944. I the record from the Navy I have also
have another designation I cannot find on the internet. He was a
ships cook. YF-642. service number 627-52-35. When he
entered the service he was living in Indianapolis, Indiana.
He passed away Feb 6 1993. He did not talk about his time
during the war and my daughters and I would like to know
anything about his life during the war. His younger brother,
Louis was in the navy too. Two photos are attached.
